Founder of Huuman

&

Specialist Occupational Therapist

I first started Huuman during the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic whilst pregnant with my daughter Delilah. I wanted to offer a service online to support people living with a long term condition and focus on their quality of life rather than just their medical health. As business grew people wanted a person to speak to, face to face, who can assess not only their physical health but the impact it may have on the rest of their lives. Huuman now offers Occupational Therapy assessments at home or in the community, movement and balance exercises classes and more recently training and improvement strategies to businesses and services. I am passionate about the wider picture of health, throughout my career as an Occupational Therapist I have seen the impact of a diagnosis on a persons quality of life and although offering one to one support in people's homes is beneficial, we need to see more support in the community and within local our businesses. Huuman has collaborated with various businesses on promoting and improving care, accessibility and inclusion and this is something we are excited to develop further.

My professional history shows that I have worked in both the NHS and in private health settings. I have worked as a Senior therapist on hospital wards and in schools, peoples private homes as well as residential nursing homes. I specialise in supporting adults who have neurological disabilities, learning disabilities and have expertise in working with older adults who have health problems that are caused by the aging body.

Huuman is a service which can be applied to your lifestyle, something to enable you to help yourself, your family and friends. Now more than ever we understand the importance of looking after both our physical and mental health. Huuman will provide you with the tools and knowledge you need to answer and address your concerns as well as hands on treatment. I provide a person-centred service and ensure any treatment is centred around your goals.

  • Gerry Dainty
Hello my name is Gerry Dainty, I am a 76 year old Grandmother of 10 beautiful girls. Apart from very close family connections I am an active member of the Salvation Army. Part of that membership includes leading a very busy over 60's club. I was diagnosed with Parkinson's 8 years ago and therefore it is essential that I keep active and mobile.

I have attended Harriet's exercise program and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Harriet is very welcoming friendly and personable. She understands my medical condition and was able to highlight areas that are important to me.

Harriet did the exercises with me giving me encouragement along the way. Her manner and attitude is always professional and I highly recommend her expertise. Although I have this condition with people like Harriet to support me the journey is made much easier and much more bearable.

    Occupational Therapy
I am very grateful to Harriet at Huuman for her professional and empathetic OT assessment of my father, who has MND. Harriet’s handling of the appointment made a very difficult situation much easier to bear, and her recommendations and advice were clearly explained as well as recorded in understandable language for future reference. Harriet is a warm and caring individual whose professionalism and experience engenders both trust and hope in her clients.
  • Dave Evans
My name is Dave Evans and I am a 57-year-old male who lives in Cheltenham. I have had Charcot – Marie – Tooth (CMT) disease all of my life although it was only in my late 20s that the condition started to have an impact on my abilities to carry out everyday tasks.

Since that time I have had regular contact with occupational therapists who have supported me in a number of different ways. Most recently I have been receiving care and treatment from Harriet Gallagher as my OT. I have found Harriet to be an approachable and knowledgeable practitioner.

She has assisted me as I have come to terms with some considerable changes in my life and has made positive suggestions about things that I may benefit from using.
